Milo Yiannopoulos – Hero or Villain

I only became aware of Milo Yiannopoulos recently and found him interesting to say the least.

He is a good looking, charismatic guy with a very strong point of view. Calls himself Right Wing freedom of speech activist.

But what does he appear to stand for or stand against.

Milo speaks up about

  • Feminism – Says that feminism is dead and a cancer
  • Muslims – Bread hate, violence and rape
  • Left wing media – Lie, spread rumours and false accusations
  • Black lives matter – is about making money
  • Salary Gap – Does not exist
  • College Rape culture – Rape culture does not exist.
  • Lack of free speech
  • Women on the Pill look different and go crazy

Video Overview

Well in the Australia Studio 10 interview Milo speaks with Jessica Rowe, Joe Hildebrand, Sarah Harris and Denise Drysdale.

Milo speaks positive, confident and puts forward well scripted comments, that appears that he was reading from prompt cards on the table in front of him. Regardless of that, his arguments had very valid points.

You can see that Jessica Rowe (a self admitted feminist) had issue with him right up front and rather than asking good questions, just attacked his credibility with allegations that he was able to dispel easily.   However once she knew she was losing the fight she tried to change the topic.  However Milo then shoots himself in the foot by saying all feminists are fat and ugly.  This personal attack was not required, and actually stole from Milo’s argument and credibility.

Joe Hildebrand, like always, presented very good unbiased points forward, and a credit to him as a presenter, as did Sarah and Denise present valid questions and points.

This was another interesting interview between Australian TV and Milo. You can see that Milo again is presenting his rehearsed topics, that he is very passionate about.  David Koch and Monique Wright were anti Milo from the get go and  really did not give him fair airplay. Again attacking his credibility rather than asking good probing questions.

Koch wraps the interview up quickly and says off air “I rest my case,”.  However in this TV interview, sorry Koch you did not prove anything, and in fact you did not even make a reasonable case. I was not impressed with How they interviewed Milo at all.

“I’ve heard you say that with almost every interview you do,” said Wright.

“Well then you should ask different questions, darling,” he shot back, laughing.

A statement I totally agree with. They missed their opportunity to ask better questions, rather than just try to discredit Milo.

Hero or Villain

Free Speech – Well I believe that free speech does not exist here in Australia – see my other blog of free speech. Milo is so correct in this area. How many of us are so frustrated with the increasing levels of Political Correctness gone mad. How we cannot even tell jokes that might offend.

Feminism – Was a critical part of what helped the sexes become more equal. Women’s rights are very important. However, many feminist come across as men haters, and like most of these types of groups the extremists really pull down how the group is seen by others. I am a big fan of equality, but I am not a fan of many feminist and their limited view points.

Muslims – All cultures have good and bad people in them, again the extremists have really pull the vibe of this community down.  I think Milo goes a little far on this topic, however his points are very valid. I must admit with every culture joining Australia, this culture appears to be the only one not willing to assimilate into our way of life, but appear to want to change the way we do things. So for this I am not a big Muslim fan, but I do not hate them like Milo does.

Salary Gap – Well Australian government states that our wage gap between sexes is 15.3%.  However, Milo makes some very prudent points about demographics.  Now my thoughts include things like, go back to when the baby boomers were in their 20’s and 30’s. During this time men were in more jobs, and higher level jobs, therefore it makes sense that that demographic now in their 50’s and 60’s still have an imbalance of men being higher paid and having more CEO spots.  However if you look at the “now” 20’s and 30’s the balance between men and women is far closer, and in some cases it is possible women are in front. So Milo is very valid in his augments on this topic. And the pay gap argument continues.

Black Live Matter – I do not know much about this group as they are very much American. So I cannot comment. However if like all extremists, then some may take things too far.

College Rape Culture – Again very much American, however Milo shows that it is not a culture, and not condoned by anyone. That yes it occurs, but it is not a culture. He does not say it is not a problem, but shows that a culture is a way of life and premeditated.  Milo is right here. but no one has asked him, if he feels the rape levels are an issue, and how he would fix the issue.

The Media – I myself am anti media. I hate how they peddle one sided points of view, only what they want you to know, and the media does ruin lives in so many ways. I am behind Milo in this area.

So do I see Milo as a Hero or a Villain. I think more Hero, however I do agree that his name calling and cattiness needs to be pulled into line. Insulting people only makes you lose your point, as that becomes what people remember not the point.

Keep it going Milo. We do need a western world boat rocker, and we do need to get freedom of speech back, and we do need to have an ability to have our say in a peaceful way without fearing judgement.

We need a men’s movement. Men’s Lives Matter too.
