Why we Need Space Exploration

A few years ago I came up with the amazing idea about space travel. Some people laughed and others agreed. But I put it to one side as an “as if it could happen”, but here goes.

The Earth Will End One Day.

A morbid thought, maybe? A reality, Yes!

For human kind to survive we will one day have to travel to the stars and seek our new planets. It may not be today, but one day a global extinction event will happen. It could be “Global Warming”, it could be a giant asteroid, it could even be a nuclear war of our own creation. But in maybe a million or so years our sun will become unstable as it finishes burning its fuel (see my blog on death of a star).

At this time the Earth will die and all along with it. our history, our monuments our entire existence will be wiped out. Will this be then the rebirth oh humanity on a new planet created by God the official end times. Who knows, right? after all it is a million plus years away.

Human Legacy

Regardless of when, if we as a species want to live beyond the boundaries we call Earth we will need to reach for the stars, create colonies, and learn how to inhabit other plants.

We cannot take the monuments with us, but we can take records, history and our legacy with us.

The When?

One day we will have to go to space again and start our “Star Trek”. In may not be today or even for hundreds of years but we will have to go. The question is when?

Why not now! Why not be the generation that started the adventure.

The How

  • The natural first step is to set up a colony on the moon.
  • Learn how to grow plants on the moon.
  • Overcome human body limitations and gravity effects.
  • Learn how to mine the moon for fuel.
  • Learn how to build spaceships in space.
  • Learn how to protect fragile moon bases from damage and metier bombardment.
  • Use the spaceship to go to Mars and repeat.
  • Learn how to create atmosphere on plants

How Can We Afford it?

NASA costs about $18 to $20 Billion dollars each year to stay in operation.

S0 how could we begin to set up such a new project in moon flight

With about 1 Billion internet users across the world and if every person using the internet today donated $50 it would generate $50 Billion dollars.

But why would people donate $50 just for the hey of it.

Donation and Legacy Idea

  • First a giant book(s) of records to be printed
  • Everyone who donates has their name in the book
  • Maybe $5 gets your name in the book
  • $25 to list the families names
  • $25 gets your name in the book and you receive a certificate
  • $50 gets you a tee-Shirt and a certificate
  • $50 gets your name and your photo in the book
  • $100 gets a family photo and names in a book
  • $500 gets your name and DNA recorded in the book
  • $1000 gets a business name in the book
  • $5,0000 gets a business name and Logo in the book
  • $10,000 etc.

This Book would be flown to the moon camp as part of the opening ceremony and a duplicate book would be flown to Mars etc.  This way Peoples Legacy will travel in time and space.

The people who helped to get us off the ground would be remembered immortally, and not just the Astronauts who went.
